Julia started volunteering for The Hygiene Bank in November 2019. At the time she had a full-on, full-time job and was fed up of working weekends playing catch-up. Her 3 children were grown up and independent, so her logic was that finding a worthwhile cause to which she could dedicate some time would mean fewer hours available to work. She didn’t expect to find a charity that aligned so closely with her own core values and to which she was more than happy to give her time and energy.

She now runs a project covering Twickenham, Richmond, Teddington and Whitton in SW London, supported by her 20-year old son Dom and her best friend Claire, and together they serve around 20 Community Partners. Having left her stressful job in October 2021, Julia joined as a Partnership Manager at The Hygiene Bank in June 22.
