Three years ago Greg’s wife died of breast cancer aged 42, leaving behind 4 daughters aged 4, 8, 11 and 13. Neither Greg nor his wife had family living locally and Greg, an IT support administrator found it hard juggling work and grief with raising a family. He eventually gave up work to become a full time parent. He learned to cook, plait hair and run a busy home. He’s had to learn ‘girl things’, deal with periods, friendship dramas and boyfriends. Finding out that girls living together means their periods sync was not only a learning but costly time each month. Recently Greg has been applying for jobs but so far hasn’t been successful. He manages a tight by regularly going without himself. He laughs and says one money saving tip is to grow a beard! Greg recently picked up some products for his daughters including sanitary products and make-up for his girls at a Family Wellbeing Centre that The Hygiene Bank supports.
