The Hygiene Bank and Boots are helping to support the NHS staff working on the front line in hospitals across the UK with a donation of over 200,000 toiletries. With the distribution support of FareShare, thousands of essential toiletries will be available, including hand cream, toothpaste and shower gel, to help frontline workers have access to hygiene essentials and vital wash stations between busy shifts.
Using FareShare’s established network, toiletries will also be sent directly to local charities to distribute where they are needed in the community and to the vulnerable who are now in more need than ever of hygiene essentials.
Seb James, Managing Director of Boots UK commented, “Boots has always been a critical partner to the NHS and on behalf of our amazing teams also giving their all right across the country, we wanted to show our appreciation for the world-class care the men and women on the frontline of the NHS provides every single day. Our partnerships with the Hygiene Bank and FareShare enables us to get thousands of essentials out to those who need them most, both in the NHS and the most vulnerable people in the community.”
Lizzy Hall, Founder of The Hygiene Bank added “Now more than ever, vulnerable people living in poverty will need our support and as well as helping our dedicated NHS workers, we will be using our network to ensure children and people living in poverty in communities across the UK, can get better access to hygiene essentials during this difficult time for our country.”
Alyson Walsh, Commercial Director of FareShare said: ‘We are delighted to be able to mobilise our national charity redistribution network to get this brilliant donation from Boots out to NHS staff and community groups and to show our support for them.
Donations will include shower gel, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner as well as hand and body lotions from brands such as No7 and Soap & Glory to help soothe hard working hands. Hospital trusts who would like to benefit can contact The Hygiene Bank at covid19@thehygienebank.com.
The Hygiene Bank is currently unable to accept product donations from the public, but as charitable donations are now needed more than ever, monetary donations towards funding can be made online to support people in hygiene poverty in the UK at https://thehygienebank.com/donating/single-donation/.

About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, with 25 warehouses across the country. It takes food from the food industry that can’t be sold in shops, either because of packaging errors, a short shelf life or overproduction. That food, which is the same as the food you’d eat at home, is then redistributed through a network of 11,000 frontline organisations, across the UK such as homeless hostels, school breakfast clubs, domestic violence refuges, older people’s lunch clubs, food banks and hospices. FareShare provides enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people every week.
