We believe everyone deserves to feel clean, yet 4.2 million adults in the UK are living in hygiene poverty and cannot afford everyday hygiene and cleaning products that most of us take for granted, like shampoo, washing up liquid and deodorant or toothpaste.

This Christmas, The Multibank has joined forces with The Hygiene Bank and the entertainment industry and the sports community to  respond to the rising issue of hygiene poverty amongst young people up-and-down the United Kingdom, guaranteeing that they can approach 2025 equipped with the tools, assurance, and confidence, they need to maximise opportunity and potential at school.

Our objective? collect product donations of soap, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes into the hands of our neediest, alleviating the strain off of teachers and key workers, and enabling every young person to maximise their academic potential, without fear or judgement.

Partnered sports clubs across football and rugby are facilitating matchday fan donation drives at their home stadium within the month of December. If you cannot attend any of the matches, here is how you can help people in your local community who are living in hygiene poverty.

What is hygiene poverty

Hygiene poverty is undermining the nation’s mental and physical health, blocking people’s opportunities and limiting their potential. It forces parents to make impossible choices; whether to pay the bills and put food on the table, or buy basic toiletries.
