As the coronavirus pandemic unfolds in the UK, our main priority is ensuring the safety of our volunteers and network partners.
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last night many drop offs and charity partners have shut. Foodbanks face a difficult decision about whether they are able to stay open.
As with foodbanks, each hygiene bank project is run by a volunteers for their local community, and each will be affected differently.
Head Office remains open and ready to support our projects in whatever decision they feel is best in their community. If a project feels it can continue to run, in line with the government guidance and with the support of their volunteers and local community, we will do everything we can to support the project. If able, we are asking our volunteers to focus support on delivering donations to their local foodbank.
If your foodbank is unable to open, we can help you look at how to get products to people in your area who don’t have enough money in a safe, alternative way. Many areas have set up community support groups on facebook.
If you are a member of public and wish to donate products to The Hygiene Bank, please do so via our Common Good Wishlists now and in the coming weeks. If you are a brand wanting to help, please contact HQ. If you wish to volunteer with The Hygiene Bank, please follow this link.
We will provide more information on this as soon as we are able to. Wide-ranging conversations are underway with our retail partner Boots, exploring how we can work together to help ensure people can access support in the coming weeks.
